Accommodations

Sleeping quarters

The Riggin’s eleven cabins are cozy yet comfortable. We have nine double occupancy and two triple occupancy cabins. Two of our double occupancy cabins have double beds. The rest of the cabins have two or three single beds each. The dimensions of the single beds are 24” x 74” and the double beds are 48” x 74”. Specific cabin requests can be made and we do our very best to accommodate those, although we can not 100% guarantee a requested assignment. Requests are taken in the order of booking dates, also with consideration to any special needs.

Each cabin has a sink with cold running, potable water, an overhead and reading lights next to each berth, two USB ports, and a 12V port. Each cabin also has a drinking glass for each guest, locally-made soap, and a pitcher, should you like to grab some hot water from the galley to refresh.

Your cabins are made up when you arrive with fresh sheets, warm blankets, quilts, pillows, and towels. Every private cabin also has a window that provides light and can be opened for fresh air and ventilation.

Bathrooms at sea

Our two toilets (“heads”) are cleaned throughout the day, well-ventilated, and are located above deck. We have a hot freshwater shower available as well and, using good conservation practices, enough water on board for each guest to shower every day. Showers can be taken at anchor, either after breakfast or after dinner when the wood stove, which heats the water for piping to the shower, has our on board hot water nice and ready for you.

Dining areas

We find most of our guests prefer to dine on deck, enjoying the breath-taking views underway or stunning ocean sunsets. For those wishing to dine inside, we have space enough for guests to enjoy their dinner in the warmth of the galley. Our below deck dining space, referred to as “the Salon” includes three tables, cushioned bench seating, or standard table height stools, for guests who prefer to have a table on which to enjoy their meal or those who might prefer to dine away from the breeze. The salon is often warm from the woodstove in the adjacent galley, and if you don’t mind the sound of Chef Jocelyn humming as she prepares your next meal, or the smell of fresh-baked bread, the galley can be a comfortable place to read, craft, or play games with your fellow guests throughout the day.

Solo travelers

While we do not have single occupancy cabins, you may reserve a guaranteed private cabin if you wish by paying for the additional berth(s) in that cabin. If you choose a shared cabin, you agree to allow us to assign you a cabin mate if necessary. On some cruises, if there are no other solo travelers, you may end up with the cabin to yourself. We only assign a cabin mate if the trip is too full for solo travelers to be spread out.  We find that many times new friends are made this way!

Sleeping under the stars

Typically, you will spend very little time in your cabin, using it for sleeping, dressing, brushing teeth, and the like. We also find that some guests love the fresh air, starlight, and sea sounds that accompany sleeping deckside. If this sounds like a good option for you, just bring a rolled up sleeping pad, a sleeping bag, and a small pillow for this purpose.
